Hello World!
Dec. 6th, 2018 11:01 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
So, I am a recent migrant from the latest tumblr chaos, here to mess around and see if I can actually be more blog-y in my writing!
I have no idea how this platform works, so bear with me! (assuming anyone will read this...)
I'll probably use this as a home for my musings regarding Gaston Leroux's the Phantom of the Opera (currently reading the de Mattos translation), and the ALW musical.
I.. just like musicals in general, so feel free to chat with me about them! (however one goes about doing this on here..)
If you're reading this, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Date: 2018-12-06 07:57 pm (UTC)Thanks for the info- I was never in fandom during the LJ days so this is all new to me lol :) And, yes, I am also a fan of Wicked- Phantom may be my One True Musical Love that I'll probably post the most about, but Wicked is also a solid favorite of mine. (and Gina Beck was fantastic in both of them, IMO!)

Date: 2018-12-28 04:22 pm (UTC)Anyway, Fellow recent Tumblr evacuee
I've been a Dreamwidth user since 2009, and a LiveJournal user since 2002, and even I'm learning new things reading through it (Dreamwidth has been tweaking its features through the years, and I haven't been paying the closest attention...)
Anyway -- Welcome!

Date: 2019-01-05 07:25 pm (UTC)I've been subscribing haphazardly to a lot of interesting looking journals lately, since my reading page feels so empty compared to my tumblr dash (I was following over a thousand blogs on there).
Thanks for the resource! Dreamwidth has been harder to get used to than I thought it would- one of the main things is that the culture is less- separated by fandom? Not sure if that's the right way to put it- than tumblr. On tumblr, I wouldn't generally follow people who weren't part of any of my major fandoms, but on here it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue since a lot of people seem to post a variety of content, from 'this is what I've been doing this week' to 'here's an interesting article or recipe I found' alongside fandom things.
I'm not sure if this is due to what kinds of blogs I was following on tumblr vs here, or if it's just a difference in general site culture, but it does make an interesting change that I think I enjoy.
Thank you so much for the welcome and resource :) Have a great day!

Date: 2019-01-05 08:36 pm (UTC)I see you've filled out your profile with a long list of interests. That's good. You might have noticed that a lot of those interests show up as links. If you click on one, it will pull up a list of all the communities (shared blogs) and individual users who also have that listed as an interest. When you visit another person's blog and check their profile, you'll see some of their interests are in bold -- those are ones that you two have in common.
And communities are always listed first -- if you join a community, be sure to click "Subscribe," too, or it won't show up on your reading page.

Date: 2019-01-29 09:31 am (UTC)It may be worth learning about cut-tags (equivalent of a read-more) as the long Phantom posts are currently hard to read on my page. Hooray for musicals, though!
